Since 2016, he has been the frontman of the hit-making duo Phlake, which, with songs like ‘Angel Zoo’, ‘The Rascal’, ‘Pregnant’, and over 250 million streams across four critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning albums, has become one of the country’s most popular and influential names in recent years.
Now, Phlake is on standby. And with the release of come here in January, Wads made his solo debut, having previously collaborated with artists like Pil, Benjamin Hav, Dos Santos, and Emil Kruse. The single ‘come here’ introduced an edgy and multi-layered electronic R&B universe, which now takes on new shades with the spaced-out pop track ‘beast’.
Wads twists the song’s theme with pitched alien-like vocals, reminiscent of his alter ego, Mercedes the Virus, from Phlake hits like ‘Slip Away’ and ‘Baby Steps’. Like ‘come here’, the new single was produced in close collaboration with producer Awinbeh Ayagiba (Jada, Artigeardit, and more).
