The trio Kayak consists of friends Eva Berghamar, Carl Magnus Olsen, and Albert Odgaard, who together carve out a unique spot on the Danish indie-pop scene that has yet to be fully explored. Their sound is grand and theatrical, yet simultaneously intimate and stripped-down. It’s a universe wrapped in layers of synths, airy vocals, and experimental guitar roles, with Berghamar’s lyrics serving as an anchor for the listener. With an insistent presence, the most challenging, profound, and contradictory emotions are addressed through an understated yet direct language. Adopting a curious approach to production, the band strives to push the boundaries of their own understanding of genre - still, beneath it all lies a constant love for the classic, well-crafted pop song.
