Selina Gin is one of the country’s most expressive and talented vocalists, songwriters, and producers.
She began her solo career in November 2019 with her live band The Iconics at none other than Royal Arena, supporting The National, and in May 2020. In 2021, Selina Gin truly launched her highly anticipated solo career. She was nominated for a Steppeulv Award for Vocalist of the Year, two concerts at Loppen in Copenhagen sold out quickly, her debut single ‘Deep Blue’ went into rotation on P6 Beat, and her performance at SPOT the same year received five-star reviews.
In close collaboration with Søren Buhl Lassen, Selina created her debut album Patiently Waving, which was released in September 2022. The album was met with widespread critical acclaim, including praise from Information and Politiken, and received five stars from Jyllands-Posten, GAFFA, and Soundvenue. Radio also embraced the album’s singles: ‘Young & Alive’, ‘Cause We Had It All’, and ‘Good Cry’ all went into rotation on P6 Beat, and the album was named Album of the Week on P4 in week 41.
The album showcases many facets of Selina Gin’s abilities as a vocalist, songwriter, producer, and artist. The freedom in her musical expression has gained new energy since Selina moved to the countryside and became a mother. Her perspective has broadened, and the distance from the big city has created both a mental and physical separation from expectations and trends.
With her new songs from the album ‘I Memorize Your Face, ‘Cause it Changes all the Time’, Selina has used her new vantage point to write electro-pop tracks with the same sensitive introspection as her debut - but with new sources of inspiration that shine through in a more playful expression, combining a disarming and sharp interplay between seriousness and humor. The sophomore album has also received critical acclaim from Politiken, Soundvenue, and five-star reviews from All That, GAFFA, and Jyllands-Posten. Songs like ‘Oh My Heart’ and ‘Hurts Like a Mother’ have made a significant impact on Danish radio, and DR’s P6 Beat named Selina Gin the second most-played artist in 2025.
In addition to her work as a solo artist, Selina has written the theme song for the popular podcast Flyvende Tallerken, toured and recorded with Peter Sommer, composed music for the musical Nordkraft at Aalborg Theatre, and created the music for Stine Pilgaard’s production Hvorfor laver vi ikke et band? at Nørrebro Theatre.
