The cold and the gray January feeling have hit a bit hard in the first weeks of the year, and therefore, at SPOT, we see it as our most important task to bring you some good spring vibes and something to look forward to – more precisely, we are ready with eight hot names for SPOT 2024!
Quivering musical presence, ambient sounds, and strong melodies in perfect harmony are just some of the things you can expect when the Aarhus-based trio, Hvalfugl, takes the stage. Danish-Faroese Tamara delivers R’n’B tunes set to lyrics that explore freedom, vulnerability, and personal development, while the Copenhagen quartet Pak will impress with their youthful energy and an original sound which both reaches back in time and looks forward to the future. The dark side of this year’s lineup shows itself early on with the Danish band ORM, who captivates the listener with their black metal combination of the melodic and the raw. We continue the rawness in a slightly different package with music enthusiast Jonah Wright, who blends genres in his universe of commercial pop and rock tunes mixed with catchy hooks and flows. A unique voice and a great talent for songwriting are what you get when Jacob Bellens steps onto the stage, and in May, we can look forward to experiencing him as a solo artist. If your heart beats for a flamboyant mix of disco, funk, and Eastern European electronic music from the 80s, paired with Soviet aerobic videos, then the Finnish-Norwegian duo Ultraflex is for you. If you’re more into Norwegian rap with a high tempo and lots of personality, then Simon Negash aka Rambow is an artist you should check out. We would, of course, recommend that you listen to both, as well as the six other new additions to SPOT 2024 – there’s nothing better than expanding your musical horizon!
