Simone Tang is perhaps best known as the guitarist for Ida Laurberg and the bassist for Ki!, but on her debut album ‘Things I Remember’, she stands on her own. In September, she received an honorary award for her songwriting at the Nashville Nights Festival in Odense – a fitting prelude to the release of the debut album that prompted American songwriting legend Jim Lauderdale to exclaim, “That was amazing!” after her performance at Tønder Festival this summer.
‘Things I Remember’, created in collaboration with producer Christian Ki, sounds like something from a bygone era, emanating from a vintage gramophone, where an acoustic guitar and a gripping vocal were all that was needed to captivate an audience. The album presents a minimalist, raw, and dusty aesthetic, with only guitar and vocals carrying the deeply personal stories.
