Experience a whole new side of big band music when Aarhus Jazz Orchestra presents ‘Excellent Place to Start’ at SPOT Festival 2025. Taking the stage as soloists and behind the composition of this brand-new piece are the renowned artists Niels Rønsholdt and Henriette Sennenvaldt, who have drawn inspiration from the wondrous literary universe of author Signe Gjessing.

Together with the orchestra, Sennenvaldt and Rønsholdt create an experimental soundscape and stage atmosphere that both builds upon and challenges the classic big band format as we know it from the golden age of the great crooners.

Oplev en helt ny side af bigband-musik, når Aarhus Jazz Orchestra præsenterer ‘Excellent Place to Start’ på SPOT Festival 2025. Med på scenen som solister og bag kompositionen af det nyskrevne værk står de anerkendte kunstnere Niels Rønsholdt og Henriette Sennenvaldt, som har fundet inspiration i forfatteren Signe Gjessings forunderlige tekstunivers.

Sammen med orkestret skaber Sennenvaldt og Rønsholdt et eksperimenterende lyd-univers og scenisk atmosfære, der både tager udgangspunkt i og opgør med det klassiske bigband-format, som vi kender det fra de store crooneres storhedstider.
