Slush Eyes sings songs about melancholic, euphoric nights out, life’s surreal and lonely moments, and love breaking on a cold curb on a Thursday night – all with one finger in the air. When Slush Eyes performs, loneliness and uncertainty transform into candy-colored extravagance, crystal-clear melodies, and irresistible beats.
In contrast to the closed circles on city dance floors and the cool atmosphere of techno clubs, Mikkel Wonsbek and Kristoffer Jessen of Slush Eyes look back to the ’90s, embracing naïveté and carefree togetherness. They cultivate bright, pastel-colored melodies and grand chords, while a dark-blue melancholy drifts through the candy landscapes. They call it DK Dance: Eurodance mixed with Nordic Noir and Danish irony.
Slush Eyes has released ‘Tårnby Hotel’ and their debut single ‘Funny Boy’, where Kristoffer Jessen sings in a Eurodance-inspired world of pounding kick drums and infectious synth melodies. The song explores appearing confident and fun on the outside while feeling the opposite inside – wishing you were brave enough to ask her for a dance but ending up standing in the corner sipping Vodka Monster, doing nothing.
Together, they are both playful and “big life.” They create a space where it’s okay to feel blue and to fully show up. With slushy eyes, you can raise a finger in the air and get lost in their sugary, neon-colored, and liberating darkroom world.
