Sanyu has performed at festivals such as Øya, Trondheim Calling, and regularly at jazz festivals in both Oslo and Copenhagen in recent years. Her debut EP, ‘Now You Hear It’, was described by Beehype as "proof of true artistry and dedication to the craft" and was selected for their collection of Best Albums of 2024. Yet, the EP only offers a glimpse of what you can expect to experience live.
Rooted in old-school R&B and improvisation, Sanyu's live performances are characterized by a soulful expression with warm harmonies, while also playing with rap and groove-based riffs in a soundscape where acoustic and electronic elements are seamlessly intertwined.
On stage, she is joined by some of the most notable musicians from the young Norwegian jazz and electronic music scene. Rino Sivathas on drums, multi-instrumentalist Kristina Fransson, and Joachim Mørch Meyer on double bass bring both calmness and explosiveness to their musical creations together.
