Nausia has captivated and impressed audiences and critics alike with their doom-jazz sound that shifts between spiritual, hypnotic trance and wild, euphoric outbursts. The Copenhagen quintet, consisting of two saxophones, guitar, bass, and drums, defies genre boundaries. Their sound alternates between hypnotic repetition and intense, euphoric energy, drawing inspiration from alternative rock, spiritual jazz, and minimalism.
This spring Nausia released their new album ‘Finding a Circle’ (Vasen, 2025), which the band describes as the culmination of five years of hard work on tours and releases. Created in close collaboration with producer Jacob Günther, the album reflects a strong musical camaraderie and a desire to find solace amidst the storm of turbulent youth, climate collapse, and dystopian futures. Expect a work that is spiritual, intense, jazzy, doomy, and cohesive - cementing Nausia as a profoundly original band in constant development and one of Denmark’s most compelling jazz-rock acts.
When Nausia last played SPOT Festival in 2022, the legendary rock journalist David Fricke dryly after the concert remarked, "It's hard to beat this one." Now, three years later, Nausia returns after releasing a brand new album and they are looking forward to blowing both the bowling hall and SPOT away.
