Guðrið Hansdóttir is a Faroese folk-pop and indie artist from the Faroe Islands, known for blending dreamy, melancholic songwriting with roots in traditional Faroese singing. Growing up in a small community surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the islands, she dreamed from an early age of becoming a singer and artist. Her father, who was also a musician, taught her to play guitar when she was 14 years old, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey in music. Her sound moves between intimate folk textures and atmospheric pop, drawing inspiration from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Jethro Tull, and Aldous Harding. Since her debut, Guðrið has released six albums and toured internationally, performing across Germany, Switzerland, Russia, the USA, and Scandinavia.
She has appeared at festivals including SXSW, Iceland Airwaves and By:larm. Alongside her solo work, Guðrið collaborates with artists such as Sakaris, Heiðrik, Lyon Hansen, and KATA, and is also one half of the electro duo BYRTA. Her 2022 album ‘Gult Myrkur’ won Album of the Year and Lyricist of the Year at the Faroese Music Awards. Her seventh album will be released on April 10, 2026.
