TINGO is an acoustic jazz/folk ensemble that explores the treasure trove of Nordic folk melodies, blending them with improvisational jazz. The ensemble is part of a wave currently revitalizing traditional music. They play with genre-crossing as a concept while treating the melodies with great care and sensitivity.
In 2026, TINGO will release their second album, ‘Medvind/Modvind’, where they delve even deeper into the Nordic musical tradition. The album is a love letter to the Nordic landscape and the places that connect us across time. Their music seeks to create a connection to both the fragile and tactile, the intense, the nostalgic, and the mysterious - moods and states that nature has always enveloped human beings in.
TINGO’s debut album, ‘Kvartetten fra verdens ende’, was released on the label GO Danish Folk in spring 2023 and has received praise from reviewers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, and Germany. In November 2023, TINGO was nominated for not one, but two Danish Music Awards: “Best New Name” at DMA Roots and “Best New Jazz Artist” at DMA Jazz.
