The wide-ranging folk quintet Som Os weaves together their many musical impressions into a unified mosaic, beautifully showcasing the breadth of folk music and its many branches extending into the wider genre landscape. Here, the listener is taken from rock and funk, through jazz, to the diverse folk traditions that the musicians collectively represent through their varied backgrounds.
The band has already made a name for itself with concerts across Denmark and at some of the country’s largest folk festivals, including Tønder Festival, Nordic Folk Alliance, Musik over Præstø Fjord, and Copenhagen Jazz Festival. In November 2024, Som Os received the award for “Best New Name” at the DMA Roots and was also nominated for their debut album ‘Mosaik’ as “Roots Release of the Year.”
Their instrumental music tells stories of places, situations, and experiences that the musicians have shared together, as well as those that have shaped them individually. It is these stories that audiences are invited into when the band tours the country, showcasing what folk music can also be.
