Oskar Krusell is a songwriter from North Jutland who has established himself as an intriguing voice in Danish music through his work with Kogekunst, Heathe, and Hjalte Ross. On stage, he is accompanied by his regular band, consisting of Mads Lang, Rasmus Frandsen, and Søren Bøgeskov.
With grit and emotions worn on his sleeve, Oskar Krusell returns with the follow-up to his 2023 debut album ‘OSKAR’. His new album, ‘Mit Barn’, features eight songs born out of a turbulent period, when both a daughter and a postpartum depression arrived simultaneously. For what do you do when you love your child, but also feel the urge to strangle them? Oskar Krusell doesn’t offer answers; instead, he lets ambivalence seep into the songs. Here, an intimate space is created for the things we most want to hide but cannot avoid - like a cracked mirror held up to the culture of perfection.
Supporting him is his band, and just like the lyrics, the music is associative, playfully juggling heartfelt folk, vacuum-cleaner noise rock, and polyrhythmic mash-ups. It’s a universe where acoustic guitars and viola blend with electronics and guitar amplifiers, all as tense and pressed as Oskar himself.
