How can a young artist take the first steps onto the international music scene, and how can local players collaborate across borders to create new opportunities? These are the questions that DSCVR Camp in Aarhus seeks to explore.

In early September, selected Danish and Dutch acts will meet in Aarhus for a two-day pilot camp filled with workshops, inspiration, and networking. The aim is to test new ways of introducing emerging talents to international collaborations and to provide them with the experience needed to move from the local stage to a global outlook.

The program includes sessions on how to go “from local to global,” meetings with industry professionals such as Tapetown’s Rasmus Bredvig, visits to local venues, and individual coaching. Along the way, a framework is created where new ideas, collaborations, and strategies can be tested in practice.

“DSCVR Camp is a pilot project where we test a model for international collaboration on equal footing with the artists at the center of it all. Our hope is that the experiences gained here can form the basis for an even greater effort in the future in cooperation with partners in other countries,” says Rikke Andersen, Director of SPOT.

The camp concludes with a showcase at the newly opened Roberta’s Society hotel on Saturday, September 6, where the audience can experience three live acts – HAITZE (NL), Cashmyra (NL), and Dear Anaïs (DK).

“Collaborating with local players is central to Roberta’s Society’s ambition of being a vibrant cultural hub. With us, both established artists and up-and-coming talents should have stage time. That is why we are especially pleased that – together with SPOT – we can invite audiences to the DSCVR Showcase on Saturday, where emerging voices from both Denmark and the Netherlands will take over Roberta’s stage,” says Alexander Kølpin, owner and founder of Kolpin Hotels, who also created Roberta’s Society.

DSCVR is a collaboration between SPOT Festival, the Dutch DSCVR and GO!, with Tapetown and Roberta’s Society as partners. Together, the partners are testing new ways of building bridges between young talents and the international music scene – with the potential to grow far beyond their local environments.
