When the wind blows east, LAY moves west. His debut EP ‘M.D.M.A’ (Mange Døjer Med Angst, 2023) added a new layer to urban music as we know it. The EP has already left its mark on the harsh environments of youth, disarming them and instead finding comfort in the moon rather than weapons when the world shows its merciless side. With the song ‘Run Away’, LAY captivated listeners with his melodies and flows over the heart-pounding R&B beat.
Since his debut EP, he has grown stronger in his belief that his path in music should be self-sustaining rather than tied to major label deals. As a result, Problembarn Records is now the partially self-owned label through which LAY releases his music. In 2024, he played his first headlining concerts with a full band, including a sold-out show at Huset and a performance at Forbrændingen. In the fall, he was part of the support lineup for USSEL’s entire tour—could this exciting connection spark a chemical reaction? LAY’s well-thought-out moves have drawn attention and raised the bar for what to expect from his future shows and releases.
