ex.girls started out as the solo project of Guðlaugur Hörðdal in 2011 but soon became a platform for him and his friends to make music. Gylfi Sigurðsson and Tatjana Dís Aldísar joined the project in 2017, and the trio has since then become a prominent fixture in the Icelandic music scene, known for their unique sound and ambitious live performances.
In 2020, the group caught the attention of techno giant Bjarki with their then-unreleased track ‘Halda áfram,’ later released on his label bbbbb records. Two years later, the same track was awarded Electronic Track of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards.
Genre-bending and nihilistic, the trio is constantly exploring new paths, making their music exciting and unpredictable — or, as it was once described, “entirely their own.”
