Musikhuset and SPOT Festival collaborate on a rock extravaganza under the open sky on Thursday May 2nd 2024
For the third consecutive year, one of Denmark’s biggest names in music invites to a musical warm-up before the SPOT Festival takes over Aarhus. Last year, Steffen Brandt and TV-2 provided a magical spring evening in the heart of Aarhus. This year, it will be Tim Christensen who kicks off SPOT with a concert in Musikhusparken.
“It’s wonderful that we have once again been able to collaborate with Musikhuset to create a framework for an unofficial warm-up before SPOT. Tim Christensen has previously performed at the festival, so the connection to our part of the project is found in the history, and in general, it’s just great to be able to use part of the space already from Thursday. That way, Aarhus is fully prepared for two music-filled festival days”, says Rikke Andersen, director of the SPOT Festival.
Honeyburst and other highlights
This year, Tim Christensen has been on a highly acclaimed 20th-anniversary tour for his iconic album Honeyburst. The audience can look forward to a full concert featuring tracks from the aforementioned album and other highlights from his solo career, all under the mild spring evening sky. The concert concept continues the good tradition, allowing the audience to gather for music under the open sky the day before SPOT kicks off. In 2022, it was Peter Sommer, iomfro, and Raveonettes who prepared the audience for more music, while last year it was the aforementioned TV-2 that jump-started the festival days.
“We are extremely happy about our long-standing collaboration with SPOT in focusing on the talent pool and highlighting the importance of giving the next generation of musicians space to unfold. Tim Christensen is one of those who has gone all the way from talent competitions to the biggest stages in the country. We look forward to bringing the city together and celebrating music at an outdoor rock extravaganza”, says Jeppe Uggerhøj, artistic director of Musikhuset.
One of the last musical blasts in the current Musikhuspark
Musikhusparken has a central place in the cityscape, and many may have noticed that there are many changes happening in the area. The next item on the agenda is to give the area in front of Musikhuset a major makeover, and ‘Tim Christensen invites’ is also becoming one of the last opportunities to experience live music in the park’s current surroundings.
All in all, the audience can look forward to a great evening with high-caliber music and a good atmosphere in Musikhusparken.

For tredje år i træk inviterer et af dansk musiks allerstørste navne til en musikalsk opvarmning, inden SPOT Festival indtager Aarhus. Sidste år bød Steffen Brandt og tv-2 på en magisk forårsaften i hjertet af Aarhus. I år bliver det Tim Christensen, der tyvstarter SPOT med koncert i Musikhusparken.
“Det er dejligt, at vi endnu engang har kunnet samarbejde med Musikhuset om at få skabt nogle rammer for en uofficiel opvarmning inden SPOT. Tim Christensen har tidligere spillet på festivalen, så den røde tråd til vores del af projektet findes i historikken, og generelt er det bare skønt at kunne bruge en del af årets plads allerede fra om torsdagen. Så er Aarhus helt klar til to musik-fyldte festivaldage”, fortæller direktør for SPOT Festival, Rikke Andersen.
Honeyburst og andre højdepunkter
Tim Christensen har i år været på en stærkt anmelderrost 20 års jubilæumsturné for sit ikoniske album Honeyburst. Publikum kan glæde sig til en fuld koncert med numre fra førnævnte album og andre højdepunkter fra solokarrieren, når der er koncert under den forårsmilde aftenhimmel.
Koncertkonceptet viderefører den gode tradition, så publikum igen i år kan samles til musik under åben himmel, dagen inden SPOT skydes i gang. I 2022 var det Peter Sommer, iomfro og Raveonettes, der stod for at gøre publikum klar til mere musik, mens det sidste år var førnævnte tv-2 der tyvstartede festivaldagene.
”Vi er enormt glade for vores mangeårige samarbejde med SPOT om at sætte fokus på talentmassen og vise vigtigheden af at give den næste generation af musikere plads til at udfolde sig. Tim Christensen er en af dem, der er gået hele vejen fra talentkonkurrence til de største scener i landet. Vi glæder os til at samle byen og hylde musikken til et udendørs rockbrag af de store”, siger Musikhusets kunstneriske chef, Jeppe Uggerhøj.
Et at de sidste musikalske brag i den nuværende Musikhuspark
Musikhusparken har en central plads i bybilledet, og det kan ikke være gået manges næse forbi, at der i området sker mange forandringer for tiden. Næste punkt på dagsordenen er også at give området foran Musikhuset en makeover af de helt store, og ‘Tim Christensen inviterer’ er det også ved at være et af de sidste udkald for at opleve livemusik i parkens nuværende omgivelser.
Alt i alt kan publikum se frem til en god aften med musik af høj kaliber og god stemning i Musikhusparken.
