With support from the Tuborg Foundation, SPOT is gaining new opportunities to develop and expand activities aimed at including young people in the music industry. Among other initiatives, the festival is enhancing its professional conference track, SPOT+, which from 2025 will take place in a new setting.

From now on, when the industry gathers for SPOT+, it will be at FO-Byen on Frederiksgade 78. The beautiful red brick buildings, terrace, and outdoor courtyard will form the new inviting meeting place, SPOT+ City, for music professionals from Denmark and abroad in early May.

Last year, SPOT experimented with creating new and unconventional networking spaces during the festival, including the alternative surroundings at Institut for X, which became a relaxed meeting spot for musicians, industry professionals, and other attendees. These unique networking settings were well-received, and following that success, SPOT has decided to move the entire conference section, SPOT+, to fresh and dynamic venues this year.

Since 2015, the content for SPOT+ has been curated and produced by Promus, which is once again working to deliver a high-level conference for both national and international industry professionals. The event will take place on May 2nd–3rd in its new physical setting.

“SPOT+ always strives to evolve alongside the industry, and it was time to give the surroundings a fresh update. The move to FO-Byen is a great opportunity to create a new, open, and inspiring environment for all the delegates,” says SPOT Director Rikke Andersen.

Knowledge Sharing and Networking for Young and Established Professionals

Thanks to financial backing from the Tuborg Foundation, SPOT can now actively focus on introducing young talents to the established music industry. The festival will therefore add an extra conference day on the Thursday before the festival. This day will focus on a specific theme relevant to the music industry in 2025, with a special emphasis on including the younger generation in the discussions.

“The Tuborg Foundation’s support allows us to take the industry aspect of SPOT Festival to the next level and expand our platform so that even more people can meet, exchange ideas, and build bridges between generations. It’s a huge gift for the festival as a whole to have the resources to develop this area. SPOT+ is the festival’s platform for music industry professionals, focusing on networking, knowledge-sharing, and development. An extra day and the new setting will make it even more relevant for professionals to participate, whether they are newcomers or established players,” says SPOT Director Rikke Andersen.

Focus on Diversity and Development

The Tuborg Foundation has long supported initiatives promoting diversity in the music industry, and its support for SPOT Festival is a natural step in this direction.

“SPOT is a vital platform for both emerging talents and established professionals in the music industry. The new setting at SPOT+ offers a unique opportunity to highlight critical industry agendas such as gender balance and well-being. We are pleased to contribute to strengthening the festival’s industry focus, creating new opportunities for networking and collaboration within the growth layer,” says Mikkel Sander, Program Manager for Creative Industries at the Tuborg Foundation.

SPOT looks forward to strengthening its role as a central hub for the music industry, now with activities specifically aimed at including young people in the music sector, while maintaining the high ambitions for SPOT+ in collaboration with Promus.

SPOT and SPOT+ will take place from May 1st–3rd, 2025, in Aarhus. Further information about the Thursday conference theme and registration details will be announced in the coming weeks.

SPOT får, med støtte fra Tuborgfondet, nye muligheder for at udvikle og udvide aktiviteter og rammer målrettet inklusion af unge i musikbranchen. Festivalen skruer blandt andet op for det professionelle konferencespor, SPOT+, der fra 2025 flytter til nye omgivelser.

Når branchen fremover mødes til SPOT+, bliver det i FO-Byen på Frederiksgade 78, hvor de flotte, røde murstensbygninger, terrassen og den udendørs gård skal udgøre det nye, indbydende mødested, SPOT+ Byen, for musikindustrien fra ind- og udland i starten af maj. 

Sidste år arbejdede SPOT med at skabe nogle nye og anderledes rum for networking under festivalen, blandt andet i de alternative omgivelser ved Institut for X, som blev et blødt mødested for musikere, branchefolk og andre interesserede. De anderledes networking-rammer blev taget godt imod og på baggrund af den succes, har SPOT i år valgt at rykke hele festivalens konferencedel, SPOT+, til nye og friske rammer. 

Indholdet til SPOT+ er siden 2015 blevet kurateret og produceret af Promus, der igen i år arbejder på at sammensætte en konference på højt niveau for både den nationale og internationale branche, der mødes 2.-3. maj – nu i nye fysiske omgivelser.

“SPOT+ arbejder altid for at udvikle sig i takt med branchen, og nu var det blevet tid til at   give et friskt pust til omgivelserne. Flytningen til FO-Byen er en god mulighed for at skabe et nyt, åbent og inspirerende miljø for alle de delegerede”, fortæller SPOTs direktør Rikke Andersen

Vidensdeling og netværk for unge og etablerede branchefolk
Med økonomisk støtte i ryggen fra Tuborgfondet er det også blevet muligt for SPOT at arbejde målrettet med at introducere unge talenter til den etablerede musikbranche. SPOT byder derfor velkommen til endnu en konferencedag allerede torsdag før festivalen. Her vil fokus være på ét specifikt emne, der overordnet set berører musikbranchen anno 2025, og den nye konferencedag er især skabt med henblik på, at få den unge generation af branchefolk inkluderet endnu mere i samtalerne.

“Tuborgfondets støtte giver os muligheden for at tage branchedelen af SPOT Festival til næste niveau og udvide vores platform, så endnu flere kan mødes, udveksle idéer og bygge bro mellem generationer, og det bliver en stor gave til festivalen som helhed, at have midlerne til at kunne udvikle det punkt. SPOT+ er festivalens platform for musikbranchens professionelle, hvor netværk, erfaringsudveksling og udvikling er i fokus, og en ekstra dag og de nye rammer skal gøre det endnu mere relevant for branchefolk at deltage, uanset om de er nye eller etablerede aktører,” lyder det fra SPOTs direktør, Rikke Andersen.

Fokus på mangfoldighed og udvikling
Tuborgfondet har længe haft fokus på at støtte initiativer, der fremmer mangfoldighed i musikbranchen, og støtten til SPOT Festival er et naturligt skridt i denne retning.

“SPOT er en vigtig platform for både nye talenter og etablerede aktører i musikbranchen – og derfor er rammerne ved SPOT+ også en særlig mulighed for at sætte endnu mere fokus på vigtige dagsordener i branchen som kønsbalance og trivsel. Vi er glade for at kunne bidrage til at styrke festivalens branchefokus og dermed også skabe nye muligheder for netværk og samarbejde for vækstlaget,” udtaler Mikkel Sander, Programansvarlig for Kreative Erhverv i Tuborgfondet.

SPOT ser frem til at styrke festivalens rolle som et centralt samlingspunkt for musikbranchen  nu med aktiviteter målrettet inklusionen af unge i musikbranchen, samt at kunne fortsætte det høje ambitionsniveau for SPOT+ i samarbejde med Promus.
