Over the years, SPOT has had the pleasure of presenting several exciting artists and bands from the Faroe Islands, and last year, we strengthened our collaboration with the island community in the North Atlantic when the winner of the annual music competition Sement graced one of SPOT’s stages – and this year, we’re repeating the success.
Sement is the most comprehensive music competition in the Faroe Islands, and especially in the last two years, the competition has gained momentum, evident in the record-high number of participants and, notably, the high level of music presented.
Last year, one of Sement’s main prizes included the opportunity to perform on one of the stages at SPOT 2023. The band Aggrasoppar ended up making the journey to Aarhus, captivating the audience with their flower-punk/axe-killer-pop. This year, we can look forward to another visit from the Faroe Islands when the winner of Sement 2024 is announced at the end of April.
– We had an excellent collaboration with SPOT last year, and we are thrilled to be able to continue this in 2024. We have always dreamed of getting Faroese music out into the world, and SPOT is the perfect tool for that, says Hergeir Staksberg, the project manager of Sement.
A stepping stone into the world
Glenn Larsen from Faroe Music Export is also pleased to send an artist to Aarhus once again, agreeing with Hergeir Staksberg that SPOT is an excellent tool for promoting Faroese music globally.
– We are incredibly happy that SPOT is involved again this year. Having the largest showcase festival in Denmark as a partner makes Sement even more relevant, as it provides the winner with a fantastic opportunity and a stepping stone for further endeavors beyond the borders of the Faroe Islands, says Glenn Larsen.
At SPOT, there is also nothing but positive remarks about the collaboration with Sement, and SPOT’s director, Rikke Andersen, is pleased that the festival once again hosts the winner of the competition.
– We were delighted with the collaboration with Sement, which last year helped showcase the band Aggrasoppar on one of our SPOT stages. Therefore, it is a pleasure to repeat the success for SPOT 2024, allowing our audience once again to experience an exciting Faroese artist, says Rikke Andersen, director at SPOT.
Sement will hold its finale on April 27th 2024, where the main prize is a spot in the lineup for SPOT 2024. The winner will be announced in the week leading up to SPOT 2024, which takes place on May 3rd-4th in Aarhus.
Gennem årene har SPOT haft fornøjelsen af at præsentere flere spændende artister og bands fra Færøerne, og sidste år satte vi ekstra trumf på samarbejdet med øsamfundet i Nordatlanten, da vinderen af den årlige musikkonkurrence Sement, gæstede en af SPOTs scener – og i år gentager vi successen.
Sement er den mest omfattende musikkonkurrence på Færøerne, og det er især de sidste to år, at konkurrencen har fået vind i sejlene – hvilket både kan ses på det rekordhøje deltagerantal og ikke mindst artisternes niveau.
Sidste år bestod hovedpræmien til Sement bl.a. af muligheden for at spille på en af scenerne til SPOT 2023. Det blev bandet Aggrasoppar, der endte med at tage turen til Aarhus, og de fik begejstret publikum ved bassin-scenen med deres blomster-punk/økse-dræber-pop. Og i år kan vi altså se frem til endnu et besøg fra Færøerne, når vinderen af Sement 2024 er fundet i slutningen af april.
– Vi havde et glimrende samarbejde med SPOT sidste år, og vi er super glade for, at det gode samarbejde fortsætter i 2024. Vi har altid drømt om at få færøsk musik ud i verden, og der er SPOT det perfekte redskab, fortæller Hergeir Staksberg der er projektleder af Sement.
Et springbræt ud i verden
Glenn Larsen fra Faroese Music Export er også glad for igen at kunne sende en artist mod Smilets By, og han erklærer sig enig med Hergeir Staksberg i, at SPOT er et godt redskab for at få færøsk musik ud i verden:
– Vi er utrolig glade for at SPOT også er med i år. At have den største showcase festival i Danmark som partner gør Sement end mere aktuel, eftersom det giver vinderen en fantastisk mulighed og springbræt for videre satsing udover Færøernes landegrænser, lyder det fra Glenn Larsen.
Hos SPOT er der også kun positive ting at sige om samarbejdet med Sement, og SPOTs direktør, Rikke Andersen, er glad for at festivalen igen lægger scene til vinderen af konkurrencen.
– Vi var glade for samarbejdet med Sement, der sidste år var med til at sætte bandet Aggrasoppar på en af vores SPOT-scener. Det er derfor en fornøjelse at kunne gentage succesen til SPOT 2024, så vores publikum endnu engang kan få mulighed for at opleve en spændende færøsk artist, siger Rikke Andersen, direktør hos SPOT.
Sement afholder sin finale d. 27. april 2024, hvor hovedpræmien er en plads i programmet til SPOT 2024. Vinderen annonceres i ugen op til SPOT 2024, der finder sted d. 3.-4. maj i Aarhus.
