Pater’s music is rooted in Stine Stengaard’s songs about rigid ideals, gender, and relationships. The band’s sound emerges from brutal lyrics and musical presence. Among the six members are two pairs of siblings and four roommates. That sense of security shines through in an intense live experience, where brass, samples, and synths challenge our understanding of what pop music is.
Pater’s music is a tribute to those of us who struggle within the norms that trap both ourselves and each other. It is a rebellion filled with love, anger, and faith in our ability to open the world for one another.
