Navigating Market Shifts and Policy Alignment in an Era of Geopolitical Tensions

Music export is more than economics – it is about cultural exchange, global relevance, and building sustainable careers for artists.

NOMEX presents its new strategy for 2026–2029, focused on strengthening the position of Nordic music in a rapidly changing landscape shaped by digital transformation, market localization, and geopolitical uncertainty.

This session explores how Nordic collaboration can reinforce global presence, improve framework conditions for artists, and create stronger alignment across cultural and policy agendas.

Panel

Eline Sigfusson
Chair of NOMEX. Eline works to strengthen Nordic music export through international mobility and collaboration. She previously served as Deputy Director of the Nordic Culture Fund and Director of the think tank a/nordi/c, and brings extensive experience in cultural strategy, policy, and Nordic cooperation.

María Rut Reynisdóttir
Director of Iceland Music. María Rut has worked in cultural management since 2008, primarily within music. Her previous roles include Head of Cultural Office for the City of Reykjavík, Project Manager of Reykjavík Music City, Managing Director of the Icelandic Music Awards, Program Director of Iceland Airwaves, and artist manager for Ásgeir.

Thomas Rohde
CEO of Music Export Denmark since 2008. Originally trained as a percussionist at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, he later earned a degree in Economics from Copenhagen Business School. He has held senior positions across the music industry, including PolyGram Records, Universal Music Denmark, Wilhelm Hansen, and Amazing Music World.

NOMEX is a pan-Nordic platform founded in 2012 and owned by the five Nordic music export offices: Music Norway, Export Music Sweden, Music Export Denmark, Music Finland, and Iceland Music.
