Large arena concerts attract thousands of people but also come with a significant climate impact – especially from transportation. When audiences travel long distances to attend a concert, the CO2 footprint increases drastically compared to smaller, local venues.
In this panel discussion, we present findings from a pilot project where Music Declares Emergency, in collaboration with five selected venues and cultural houses, measured audience travel-related CO2 emissions. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the arena format versus local concert experiences and address the key question: Who is responsible for the larger climate footprint – and who should drive the changes?
Join the debate as we explore solutions, perspectives, and the potential for a more climate-conscious live industry.
