Aarhus Chamber Orchestra is a professional, medium-sized ensemble based in Aarhus, consisting almost exclusively of the city's leading musicians aged 18-40. The orchestra has played over 40 concerts throughout Denmark, premiered more than 20 works by living composers and played a number of Danish premieres of works written by international composers. Aarhus Chamber Orchestra's vision is to create friendly communities through classical music, and to be the city's ambassadors in spreading classical music to new audiences.
Frederik Zeuthen (b. 1996) is a Danish composer and teacher, currently studying at the soloist program in composition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Frederik Zeuthen has composed for a number of Danish and international ensembles and festivals and written music for several short films and documentaries. The concert will feature the work “Waldeinsamkeit”, which Aarhus Chamber Orchestra premiered in 2019.
Composer Mette Nielsen (b. 1985), educated in composition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, works with ensembles of all sizes, soloists, choirs and orchestras. The concert will feature the work “Song I used to sing to the machines”.
Composer, conductor and cultural entrepreneur Magnus Plejdrup (b. 1995) is the founder and artistic director of Aarhus Chamber Orchestra, for which he both composes and conducts. Since 2018, he has conducted more than 50 concerts with the chamber orchestra and a number of renowned soloists and has premiered major works by, among others, Britta Byström, Matthew Grouse, Louise Alenius and Niels Rønsholdt. The concert will feature the 3rd and 4th movements of Magnus Plejdrup's “Symphony No. 1”.
