Electronic Vocal Collaborative
A cross-aesthetic arrangement process, where vocal performance is fused with electronically produced sound. I will present how I develop arrangements that integrate amplified singers with electronic textures, whilst avoiding traditional rhythm-carrying vocal patterns associated with modern rhythmical choir music. During the session, I will show my workflow in Ableton Live: testing interaction between voice and electronics, shaping and refining the vocal parts in collaboration with the singers. The audience will follow the development from sketch to a more or less performable format at the end of the showcase – displaying how musical, technical and performative decisions come together and influence the final artistic expression. My goal is to demonstrate methods that can inspire new approaches to vocal arrangement or composition.

Qviström/Färnstern/Verdoner/Olsen is a quartet rooted in the tradition of jazz and improvisation. They play original music in a style that combines the old jazz tradition with modern influences from the contemporary scene, as well as each member's different artistic backgrounds and creative ways. They also have a deep love for standards from the old as well as new jazz tradition, and choose some of those to arrange and interpret with their common sound and approach. The music gives melodic storytelling in a collision of atmospheric soundscapes, engaging rhythmic figures and travelling harmonies. Each member shares their own voice and approach to songwriting, as well as their own interpretations to the music in a creative space of improvisation. Together they create a common sound and way of expressing the feelings and the energy of the music and their artistic visions.
