The Ethel Award was established by pianist, composer, and studio lecturer Pia Rasmussen, who was a central figure in the 1970s women's music scene. It is awarded to individuals who have made a special effort to promote the conditions for female musicians, gender balance, and diversity in Danish music life.

The award consists of an "Ethel" – a sculpture depicting Ethel Smyth, created by sculptor Malene Bjelke – along with 25,000 Danish kroner.

We look forward to seeing who the 10th recipient of the award will be when the Ethel Award is presented at SPOT 2026 prior to the concert with Dreamstruck at Rytmisk Sal on Saturday at 15:15 PM

Ethel-prisen er stiftet af pianist, komponist og studielektor Pia Rasmussen, der var en central figur i 70’ernes kvindemusikmiljø, og den gives til personer, der har gjort en særlig indsats for at fremme vilkårene for kvindelige musikere, kønsbalancen og diversiteten i det danske musikliv. 

Prisen består af en “Ethel” – en skulptur der forestiller Ethel Smyth, skabt af billedhuggeren Malene Bjelke – samt 25.000 kroner.

Vi glæder os til at se, hvem den 10. modtager af prisen bliver, når Ethel-prisen uddeles til SPOT 2026 forud for koncerten med Dreamstruck lørdag 2. maj i Rytmisk Sal kl. 15:15
