The band ior and its songs are the brainchild of singer David Fridlund. A lifelong songwriter who started his career in influential indie rock band David & The Citizens has now begun writing in Swedish. After twelve years in the US that led to a shattered personal life, Fridlund has now turned to his native tongue to write deeply personal songs about love, despair, life and overcoming sadness and anger. The band consists of three additional musicians steeped in the world of alternative rock and pop, giving the songs an extra edge of distortion, shimmering harmonies and powerful drums. Ferocious world class indierock both for the small stage, and the arena, sung in the language god intended for rock, Swedish.
ior’s second album is a continuation of the self-titled debut. Where the first emerged in a euphoric state, sparked by David Fridlund’s escape from a broken relationship in the US and the overwhelming feeling of suddenly being able to do exactly as he pleased - ‘Livsvärk’ is a collection of reflections on life, the choices we make, and how we end up where we do.
