Melodi Ghazal is a singer, songwriter, and producer of Iranian background based in Copenhagen. She creates left-field pop with elements of R&B and folk, characterized by a distinctive tonal language and a strong melodic sensibility. In her productions, she brings together electronic and acoustic layers, where MIDI strings, daf drum rhythms tucked into the groove, and guitar textures intertwine. Melodi works to create a delicate balance between melancholy and hope, woven together by her captivating vocals and lyrics, which move effortlessly between English and Persian.
Melodi Ghazal has performed on some of Denmark’s most notable stages and festivals, including Roskilde Festival and Heartland Festival. When performing live, the cinematic and dreamlike universe of her music unfolds even further. Accompanied by her band, she creates an atmosphere of subtle drama and emotional presence. It feels as if something fragile meets something resilient, the quiet meets the powerful, and the audience is drawn into a world of longing, searching, and possibility.
Melodi’s full-length debut album ‘Idol Melodies’ will be released on March 6, 2026 via Anyines. The first taste of the album, ‘Destinies and Melodies’, was released in late 2025. With references to spiritual symbolism and a longing to dissolve the self, the music is melancholic, featuring downtempo grooves, Middle Eastern percussion, cinematic strings, and ear-catching melodies. The album draws inspiration from Sufi dervishes, Britney Spears’ dance videos, the poet Hafez, and Madonna’s conversion to Kabbalah.
