How do we create attractive cities for young people, and what do culture-creating environments mean for our shared music life?
On December 12, UMTO, SPOT Festival, Fermaten, and turkis invite you to a cultural meetup as the finale of the nationwide UMTO Tour, which throughout the autumn has visited 21 cities and their youth communities. The tour provides a current insight into youth-driven music environments in Denmark – their potential, their challenges, and their importance to local cultural life.
Based on the experiences from the tour, we will focus on how youth music communities can be strengthened as both cultural and social spaces. Among other things, we will ask whether municipalities should have an actual youth policy to be attractive places to live, and whether culture creation can be considered a natural part of vocational education.
The music meetup will also give a snapshot of what is happening among the various stakeholders across the country and how they work with the associated communities. The conversation will revolve around two central themes: the role of youth communities in the music scene and local society, and the importance of young people with technical skills for the development of a sustainable talent pipeline.
The afternoon at turkis will be an opportunity for reflection and dialogue across cities, institutions, and generations. A space where we can share knowledge, experiences, and ideas on how we can jointly create strong and inclusive frameworks for young people in music – both locally and nationally.

Hvordan skaber vi attraktive byer for unge, og hvad betyder kulturskabende miljøer for vores fælles musikliv?
Den 12. december inviterer UMTO, SPOT Festival, Fermaten og turkis til kultur-meetup som afslutning på den landsdækkende UMTO Tour, der hen over efteråret har besøgt 21 byer og deres ungemiljøer, hvilket giver et aktuelt indblik i de ungedrevne musikmiljøer i Danmark; deres potentiale, deres udfordringer og deres betydning for det lokale kulturliv.
Med afsæt i erfaringerne fra touren stiller vi skarpt på, hvordan unge musikmiljøer kan styrkes som både kulturelle og sociale fællesskaber. Vi stiller blandt andet spørgsmålet, om kommuner bør have en egentlig ungemiljøpolitik for at være attraktive steder at bo, og om kulturskaberi kan tænkes som en naturlig del af erhvervsskolernes praksis.
Musikmødet vil samtidig give et øjebliksbillede af, hvad der sker rundt hos de forskellige aktører i landet, og hvordan de arbejder med de tilknyttede miljøer. Samtalen vil kredse om to centrale temaer: ungemiljøernes rolle i musiklivet og de lokale samfund, og lokale unge med tekniske kompetencers betydning for udviklingen af et bæredygtigt vækstlag.
Eftermiddagen på turkis bliver en anledning til refleksion og dialog på tværs af byer, institutioner og generationer. Et rum, hvor vi kan dele viden, erfaringer og idéer til, hvordan vi sammen kan skabe stærke og inkluderende rammer for unge i musikken, både lokalt og nationalt.
