The music industry often prides itself on being progressive and inclusive — but how far have we really come? Last year, we discussed how to create more space for more voices on the music scene. Now, we’re taking the debate one step further:
Gatekeepers hold the keys to bookings, media exposure, career development, and funding. They have the power to open doors — or keep them shut. But how do we ensure that this power is used to create real change? Is there political will and strategic courage to take responsibility, or is diversity still something that happens despite the system rather than because of it?
We’re bringing together politicians, executives, and leaders from the music industry for an honest and provocative debate. What concrete initiatives need to be launched here and now? How can gatekeepers actively ensure broader representation of sexual and ethnic minorities in the music industry? And what are the consequences if we continue business as usual?
Join us for an important conversation about who gets to let others in — and who ends up left outside.
