Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Christian Ki Dall released his debut album ‘The Boy From Haeundae Beach’ in 2022. With no less than 20 tracks, Ki! moves between various genres and inspirations in a mixtape equivalent to a travelogue. Like the audio version of notes scratched on the back of weathered photographs, pencil drawings, and pressed flowers collected in a banged-up notebook.
There is undoubtedly something for everyone's taste.
From groovy Vietnamese-inspired Vong Co-style on ‘Mây Trôi’ to Motown magic on ‘Happy’ and old-school funk and soul with a loving nod to Warren G on ‘Karma Flow (feat Al Agami)’.
Ki! was born in South Korea and lived in an orphanage in the Haeundae district of Busan. He was adopted and grew up in Denmark. Ki!'s sound - the details and nuances that make Ki! Ki! - unfolds along the way. There is a holistic aspect to his eclecticism that gives the album both breadth and depth. And it must be experienced live.
