Finansierings- og investeringsmuligheder for indspillet musik (Danish)

Radisson Blu Room 4 Get direction

Some years ago, a number of new players entered the music industry by acquiring entire catalogs and all associated rights. These weren't typical music industry players but capital firms like the American Blackstone, for example. Reactions were varied, both positive and negative.

One consequence of these new players and new money was that prices for acquiring rights skyrocketed. Now we see a new trend where new platforms offer a different model, where rights are not sold but where self-publishing artists and labels can offer an investment in a share of future royalties. Ownership remains with the artist and label. And the payment? It's largely determined by algorithms (and AI?) based on data from streaming services and is less influenced by industry customs.

In this panel, we take a closer look at the business model and discuss the pros and cons with some of the sharpest minds in the industry.

Panel: Laura Littauer, director and producer/Sundance Music; Thomas Børresen, founder, manager and agent/Labelmade Records & Management; Jens Skov Thomsen, head of organization and law/Danish artist Union; Jens Otto Paludan, culturel entrepreneur/Beatbread

Moderator: Frederik Juul, PhD/Université Sorbonne Paris Nord

This session is a part of the seminar Let's Talk Music Publishing.

The session will be in Danish.

Presented by Danish Artist Union in collaboration with Promus & Spot+.
