Mød Music Supervisors: Speed-dating I forretnings øjemed

Foto: Allan Nissen

Ja Ja Ja Nordic Brunch at SPOT Festival, with MXD & NOMEX – KOPI

It feels like a lifetime since we hosted our last live Ja Ja Ja event all the way back in February 2020, and a lot has changed since then. One thing that remains the same however, is the phenomenal amount of fantastic music emerging from the Nordic countries.

As the world regains some sense of normality, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be heading to SPOT Festival in Aarhus for a much anticipated edition of our Ja Ja Ja Brunch series! If you’re a professional heading to the event, and you’d like to get to know the Nordic artists and teams that are also at SPOT, then sign up below to join us for a light brunch, coffee, and a long overdue catch up. We’re very happy to be producing this event in collaboration with MXD and NOMEX.

SPOT+ // networking, networking and networking!

One of the primary goals at SPOT+ is to give Danish music business people, composers, musicians and producers the possibility of expanding their network, creating new contacts and thereby strengthening their chance for new career opportunities.

That is why in a number of years we have arranged different targeted networking sessions and this year is no exception. At SPOT+ 2021 there will be three different “Meet The…”-sessions: Meet The Music Supervisors, Meet The Music Publishers and Pitch Your Music To Music Supervisors.

Read more in the descriptions below and admit your application to participate as soon as possible – it’s first come, first serve.

Meet The Music Supervisors

Again this year we are ready with our almost “classical” speed meetings when we welcome a star team of music supervisors from Mexico City, Los Angeles, Paris, Toronto, London, Berlin and Copenhagen.

Meet: Lynn Fainchtein/Casete, Samuel Diaz/CBS, Katy Gavillet/FOX, Megan Barbour/Buddah Jones, Yvette Metoyer/Sound in Color Music, Michael Perlmutter/Instinct Entertainment, Marielle Jade Te/Good Ear Music, Maxine Rouge & Gregoire Bucaille/Prodigious, Milena Fessmann/Cinesongs, David Fish/Red Five Creative, Nis Bøgvad/Copenhagen Film Music, Jesper Gadeberg/Musicstylist – and last but not least SPOT+ veteran, Bobby Gumm from Trailer Park.

The target group is professional composers, music publishers, managers and labels.

Meet The Music Supervisors takes place Thursday, September 16th at 10.00-12.00 AM at the FO-Building, Vester Allé 8, Aarhus C. The arrangement is supported by FO-Aarhus’ Debatpulje.

Meet The Music Publishers

The well-known speed meeting format from Meet The Music Supervisors was tested at SPOT+ in 2019 with music publishers – and with great succes. That is why we make it a part of the programme once again during SPOT+ 2021.

Meet: Luisa Rolander og Christian Fløe/GL Music, Mette Zähringer/Iceberg Music Group, Laurits Bejder og Vidar Hansen/The Bank, Marcus Faal/One Seven, Anders Fredslund-Hansen/TheArrangement, Ole Dreyer/NMS & Nicolas Blix/Mantik Music.

Meet The Music Publishers takes place Friday, September 17th at 10:00-11.30 AM – Radisson BLU, Aarhus C.

The target group is producers, songwriters, bands, soloists, managements and labels.

Pitch Your Music To Music Supervisors

Here we give young people from the music industry, film composers, producers and songwriters the opportunity to present their music to af panel of international music supervisors. And all in front of an audience.

We collect a short list of the recieved tracks which will be chosen by a jury. These tracks will then be presented to the panel who will give their feedback and comments. And who knows – there could be material which they can use!

For know the panel consists of:
Samuel Diaz/CBS (US), Bobby Gumm/Trailer Park (US) & Megan Barbour/Buddah Jones (US)

Pitch Your Music To Music Supervisors takes place on Thursday, September 16th at 16.00 PM at Radisson BLU, Aarhus C.

The target group is producers, songwriters, film composers and sound designers.

The different networking sessions during SPOT+ is arranged by Promus in collaboration with SPOT Festival and are supported by Koda Culture and Danish Arts Foundation.

Comment: We feel the pressure to get the wheels running again

Photo: Søren Rajczyk

Yesterday was a dark day for festivals in Denmark, and our thoughts go out to all of our colleagues who have had to close the season yet again before it even started – we are looking forward to seeing all of you and your festivals in 2022.

The situation months from now seems a bit chaotic at the moment – which rules apply when and which exceptions applies to whom? Naturally it is something that impacts our us and our planning here at SPOT.

A big part of our lineup consists of smaller names and new talents from the music scene. A group of artists which has been hit hard on their possibilities to develop an audience and knowledge of their music, and as hard as the music business have had it as a whole, our fear is that the capital and power which normally is put into the new talents, will be missing in the coming years.

That is why we are more than set to make SPOT 2021 a reality in September so we continuously can contribute to a platform for new and established artists. And our hope is naturally to carry out the festival under as normal conditions as the Danish government has warned.

It is a justified fear that the vaccine programme is changed ongoing because of different political priorities which could end up as a threat to concerts in the coming fall and maybe even after further on.

But we feel a great pressure from artists, the business and the audience to get the wheels running again. And so we do our very best to plan all aspects of the festival according to the current demands and rules from the authorities.

It will be to much of a sadness, not to believe that the pandemic has a smaller impact on our everyday life at that time – so right now we a looking forward with excitement to meet a great part of the new and thrilling Danish artists and musicians in the center of Aarhus on September 16.-17.

Maybe we will be forced to reduce our number of tickets? Maybe we will have to take special precautions?

We don’t know it yet but we believe that the possible obstacles in the next few months will end happily so we all can meet in September at SPOT 2021.
